Blockhart Printing grew from a love of Indian block printing and the simple pleasure of sharing creativity with others. My workshops are designed to be relaxed, friendly and encouraging - a place to experiment, learn something new and enoy the process.

I’m Anna — it’s lovely to meet you.
Creativity has always been at the heart of what I do. With a background in education, I’ve long enjoyed learning new skills and, even more so, inspiring others to discover their own creative confidence.
My block printing journey began at the Creative Craft Show in Birmingham, when I found myself completely drawn in by the beautiful display at the Indian Block Printing Company stand. The intricate wooden blocks felt almost magnetic — I couldn’t resist taking home a starter kit. From the very first print, I was hooked. I fell in love with the rhythm of the process and the quiet magic of lifting a block to reveal a design beneath.
Now, as a certified tutor with the Indian Block Printing Company, I’m passionate about creating workshops that are warm, welcoming and full of encouragement. Whether you’re printing vibrant cushions or wonderfully unique tote bags, my aim is for you to leave feeling proud of what you’ve made — and perhaps just a little bit addicted to printing too.
The Art of Indian Block Printing
Indian block printing is a centuries-old craft, traditionally practised by skilled artisans using wooden blocks carved by hand. Each block carries its own intricate design, which is carefully pressed onto fabric to build patterns through repetition, placement and colour.
It is the hand-printed nature of the process that I love. Each impression can vary slightly, and those small differences become part of the character of the finished piece.
The beautiful hand-carved blocks we use in Blockhart workshops connect what we create here in Shropshire with a remarkable tradition of craftsmanship that has ben practised in India for generations.
